Diving Medicine, also referred to as Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, refers to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of conditions caused by entering the undersea environment.
This includes the effects of pressure on gasses in the body and conditions caused by marine hazards, as well as fitness levels and diver safety.
Dr Rosendorff and Partners are recreational and commercial consultants, and are able to conduct medical examinations to ensure the fitness level of the diver. These examinations include a hearing test, lung function test and a cardiac stress test, which require specialised equipment to perform.
All the different classes of commercial divers can have the assessments completed, these are:
Saturation and bell (Class I), Air and mixed gas (Class II and III), SCUBA (Class IV), scientific (Class V)
They provide diving medicine consulting services to companies for their worldwide operations up to level 2A Medical support as per European guidelines. They travel to various countries in Africa to assess operational diver fitness.
